In other words, it doesn’t matter if your site looks more or less like a blog, what matters is if you’re doing something to transform behavior from the passive to the active. Participatory behavior leads to better interactions between people, brands, businesses etc. So the real question is—are you designing for participation? Your answer should be, yes. Eminem uses Twitter for tickets treasure hunt in Detroit. They were live tweeting real-world locations in Detroit where fans could go and pick up tickets. It’s an interesting kind of digital-physical treasure hunt, where tickets were hidden in locations like mailboxes and shoes around the city. Interesting to see growing number of innovative use of Twitter.

Augmented reality (AR) is a field of computer research which deals with the combination of real-world and computer-generated data (virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time. Sound a bit complicated and too technical, but there are more and more campaigns using the augmented reality as a means of communications. Attached is example of Eminem’s campaign. Pretty cool and playful.

Twitter sees tools, not ads, for revenue Sooner or later Twitter needs to find the ways to monetize and it is so uplifting to hear about their way of thinking about moentizing. Not ads but tools development. Clever and relevant. It is time we stop creating modern communication by taking new media and implementing traditional silo advertising. It will for sure not make them fly.

Social media driving traffic to newspaper website

The local Swedish daily Sydsvenskan gets 8 percent of its web traffic from social media sites.

This is probably the way the more and more news will be distributed from now on. So it is rather irresponsible of newspapers to fight social media off insead of find out how to use them and save themselves. It brings also a question to my mind: can you earn on news today?
